FlockDetour FAQ
What is FlockDetour?
FlockDetour is an iPhone navigation app with a free map of known Flock Safety cameras and other license plate readers (ALPRs). It compares the fastest route with detours that pass fewer known cameras, and it works with Apple CarPlay.
How does FlockDetour route around cameras?
Plan a trip and compare the fastest route with Balanced and Fewer cameras detours. Each route shows the minutes and miles it adds and how many known plate readers it passes. You decide what the detour is worth.
What is free and what needs FlockDetour Pro?
The camera map, fastest-route preview, agency records and news are free. Turn-by-turn navigation and the Balanced and Fewer cameras modes require FlockDetour Pro, sold as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Does FlockDetour work with Apple CarPlay?
Yes. You can see the camera map on your car's screen, pick a route before you leave, and get a warning when a known camera is ahead on your route. The fastest-route preview is free in CarPlay; turn-by-turn navigation and the two privacy modes need Pro.
Where does the camera data come from?
Each camera record shows its source and confidence level, plus direction and operator when they are known. You can report a camera you have seen, and new reports stay private until they are reviewed.
Does a blank area on the map mean there are no cameras?
No. A blank area never means camera-free. FlockDetour reduces exposure to cameras documented in its current data. It cannot identify every camera or guarantee a route is surveillance-free.
What are agency records?
You can look up agencies that publish a Flock Safety transparency portal and see how long each keeps plate data, how many searches it ran, its vehicle detections and which outside organizations can search its cameras. Every record links to the agency's official portal.
Does FlockDetour need an account or track my routes?
No account is needed. The app does not scan plates, show ads or sell personal data, and FlockDetour keeps no route history. Recent destinations stay on your device.
