Can you opt out of Flock cameras?
Flock Safety describes a neighborhood SafeList opt-out for participating residential customers, but it is not a system-wide opt-out from police cameras or other Flock camera networks.
SafeList is a neighborhood feature
Flock Safety's FAQ says SafeList is available to residential neighborhood customers, including HOAs, rather than law-enforcement customers. It also says registering in one community does not stop other Flock cameras from recording the vehicle elsewhere. Treat a SafeList request as a request about that participating neighborhood's system.
Start by identifying the operator of the camera you are asking about. A nearby police camera and a neighborhood camera may have different administrators, policies and sharing settings, even when both carry the same vendor's name. A map pin alone does not establish who controls the account.

Registering as a resident and choosing deletion differ
The vendor's SafeList instructions distinguish marking a vehicle as belonging to a resident from selecting the option to remove that vehicle's footage. A resident label by itself should not be treated as confirmation of deletion. Ask the authorized neighborhood administrator for the current registration instructions and the scope of the deletion option.
The linked vendor article has an original publication date of January 4, 2019 and a later July 24, 2026 date on the page. Its description is useful evidence of the intended feature, not a test of your HOA's present settings. Get a dated answer from the operator before relying on it.
Ask about the exact account and cameras
A useful request identifies the neighborhood account and asks the administrator to explain the feature before you submit vehicle information. FlockDetour cannot enroll a vehicle in SafeList, access captured plates or verify deletion in a Flock Safety account.
Use the operator's verified contact channel. Confirm whether the answer applies to each entrance camera, whether law-enforcement sharing changes the result, and how you can check that the requested setting took effect. Keep the response and its date with your records.
Please send the current SafeList instructions for our neighborhood's Flock Safety account. Does registration only label my vehicle as a resident, or can I select deletion? Which cameras does the option cover, how is shared data handled, and how can I confirm the setting is active?
A records request is a different task
Asking for an agency's policy or search audit logs helps you understand a program. It does not itself delete a record or prevent a future camera capture. Available access, correction and deletion procedures depend on the operator, the records and applicable rules; a vendor's website privacy form should not be assumed to erase every customer's camera data.
For retention questions, separate the operator's current retention rule from footage already exported or preserved as evidence. Request the current policy and ask which records it actually covers. This guide explains the documented feature, not a determination of an individual legal right.

Route choice does not change a camera's settings
FlockDetour lets you inspect documented camera locations and compare available routes. It has no connection to a SafeList account and no control over surveillance records. Known-camera coverage is incomplete, and a different route cannot guarantee that your vehicle will not be recorded.
