Milford, Michigan, Votes 7-0 to Remove Its Remaining Flock Cameras

The Milford Village Council voted unanimously on October 5 not to renew its Flock contract, ending service for the village's last 10 cameras.

The Milford Village Council in Michigan voted 7-0 on Monday, October 5, 2026, not to renew its contract with Flock Safety, according to ClickOnDetroit.

What changes

The village is removing its remaining 10 license plate cameras after the contract expires later in October. Milford approved 10 cameras in 2023 and added five in 2024, then ended the contract for the five newer cameras in June after resident complaints, ClickOnDetroit reported.

Why it matters

CBS Detroit reported before the vote that several Metro Detroit communities had already ended Flock contracts, among them Monroe County, St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe, South Lyon and Independence Township. Residents who spoke at the last meeting cited privacy and the risk of misuse.

The Detroit News reported the village may still have license plate readers from a different vendor, so "Flock gone" does not always mean "no plate readers." Check the FlockDetour guide to finding cameras before assuming a route is clear.

This briefing was prepared October 24, 2026 from the cited reporting. It is not legal advice. To see where cameras are near you, use the FlockDetour map guide or open the app.
